Occupational Therapist Full Time

Overall Responsibility

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapy programs that help patients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills. The role focuses on enabling patients with physical, mental, or developmental conditions to achieve maximum independence in all aspects of their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients physical, psychological, and environmental needs.

Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.

Use therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment to improve patients’ functionality in daily tasks.

Provide rehabilitation services to patients with conditions such as stroke, cerebral palsy, spinal injuries, arthritis, developmental delays, and mental health issues.

Collaborate with physicians, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other health professionals to ensure holistic care.

Educate patients, caregivers, and family members on care plans, exercises, and assistive devices.

Document and maintain accurate patient records and treatment progress.

Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of occupational therapy practices, innovations, and relevant legislation.

Ensure compliance with clinical standards, protocols, and safety regulations.

Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and audits in the department.

Job Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.

Must be registered and licensed by the Occupational Therapy Council of Kenya.

Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience.

Training in mental health, pediatrics, or neurological rehabilitation is an added advantage.

Empathetic, patient-centered approach.

Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
